Ironclad Armory builds AK-series rifles on both stamped and milled receivers: chrome-lined barrels, Gun Kote over the metal, and premium wood sets including Ironwood Designs furniture. Every build leaves the bench headspaced and function-checked, then transfers through your local FFL.

What we build
Two receivers, one standard
A stamped receiver and a milled receiver make different rifles — lighter and classic versus heavier and rigid. We build both to the same finish and fitment standard rather than pushing everyone at one platform.

The lighter, classic AK: a sheet-steel receiver riveted to the trunnion, the configuration most 7.62×39 rifles have used for decades.

Milled
Milled receiver builds
Cut from a solid billet instead of folded from sheet. Heavier, stiffer, and the choice when you want a rifle that holds an optic mount and a heavier wood set without flex.

On the bench
How a rifle leaves here
Receiver
Stamped receivers are riveted to the trunnion; milled receivers start as billet. Either way the rifle is built up from bare metal, not reassembled from a parts kit on a shelf.
Barrel
A chrome-lined barrel is pressed and pinned, then headspaced with go/no-go gauges before anything else happens to the rifle.
Finish
Metalwork is prepped and coated in Gun Kote, a baked-on finish that survives handling, sweat and weather better than bare bluing.
Furniture & check
Wood sets — Ironwood Designs among them — are fitted to the rifle, then the build is function-checked before it ships to your FFL.

AK rifles built in Georgia
Ironclad Armory is a rifle builder first and a gun shop second. The AK-series rifles we build start as a receiver and a chrome-lined barrel: stamped receivers riveted to the trunnion for the lighter classic configuration, milled receivers cut from billet when you want the extra rigidity for optics and heavier wood. Barrels are headspaced on the bench with go/no-go gauges, the metal is coated in Gun Kote so the finish survives real use, and the furniture — including Ironwood Designs wood sets — is fitted to the rifle rather than bolted on and shipped.
Alongside the builds we stock 14487+ rifles, shotguns, handguns and revolvers from the major makers, so the same order can cover a build, a hunting rifle and ammunition. Every firearm transfers through your local FFL; parts and accessories ship direct.
